COMPOSITE SAMPLING DEVICE

Composite sampling devices are fully automatic systems designed for regular monitoring of process outlets or industrial discharge points in wastewater treatment plants.
Overview

Composite sampling devices are fully automatic systems designed for regular monitoring of process outlets or industrial discharge points in wastewater treatment plants. These devices enable samples to be taken at certain time intervals or depending on certain flow increases. The collected samples are combined as a single composite sample at the end of the specified period. The sampling process is vital for monitoring the performance of treatment plants, compliance audits (SKKY, ISO 5667, EPA 40 CFR 136, etc.) and the accuracy of laboratory analyses. Our devices are equipped with high-precision peristaltic pump system, refrigerated sample storage, automatic timer and smart control unit.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

The composite sampling device can operate in time-proportional or flow-proportional mode.
1. Time-Proportional Mode
  • The device takes samples at intervals determined by the operator (e.g., every 15 minutes).

  • Each sample is transferred to the sample container and a composite sample is created over time.

2. Flow-Proportional Mode
  • The device monitors the flow signal on the line (e.g., from a Parshall flume or ultrasonic flowmeter).

  • It takes a sample at a certain volume (e.g., every 5 m³ of water passage).

  • In this way, a composite sample reflecting the real average quality is obtained by taking more samples during high flow hours and fewer samples during low flow hours.

The sampling line operates with a peristaltic pump or vacuum suction system. The sampled water is transferred to a special refrigerated storage container; this container is usually kept at 4 °C and prevents deterioration. All operations are managed through the PLC control unit; the operator can easily program the device, and the operating mode and intervals can be changed.
