STATIC / DYNAMIC MIXERS

The effective mixing of chemicals (coagulant, pH adjuster, polymer, etc.) in wastewater treatment processes directly affects process efficiency.
Overview

The effective mixing of chemicals (coagulant, pH adjuster, polymer, etc.) in wastewater treatment processes directly affects process efficiency. Static and dynamic mixers used for this purpose provide optimum mixing performance by homogenizing water or chemical flow. Our company produces two basic mixer types for different application scenarios: pressurized line-type static mixers and open channel-type dynamic mixers. All models are specifically designed with stainless steel (AISI 304 / 316), PVC-U, PP or HDPE materials according to flow rate, flow velocity and viscosity.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

1. Static Mixers (In-line Mixers)

Static mixers are pressurized pipe elements that provide mixing using flow energy without moving parts inside. As the liquid flow passes through elements with special spiral or blade geometry inside the mixer, it changes direction, rotates and mixes. In this way, the chemical is homogeneously distributed throughout the water.

Advantage: It provides continuous mixing on the line without requiring energy. It provides excellent mixing especially in coagulant, acid, alkali, liquid polymer and pH adjuster dosing.

2. Dynamic Mixers (Mechanical Mixers)

Dynamic mixers operate with a propeller system connected to a motor-reducer driven mixer shaft. They provide mechanical mixing of liquids in open channels or tanks. Mixing speed is optimized according to the viscosity of the liquid and tank geometry.

Application: The mixing time is determined at this stage for chemical reactions or floc formations to be efficient. This type of mixer is commonly used in flocculation tanks, chemical mixing pools and neutralization units.

INSTALLATION AND INTEGRATION

  • Pilsan

Static mixers are mounted directly on the pipeline. The injection point is placed just before the mixer.

  • Pilsan

Dynamic mixers are optimized according to the geometry of the tank or pool. The mixer propeller is placed at 1/3 height from the tank bottom and the propeller diameter is usually selected as 1/3 of the tank diameter.

  • Pilsan

If desired, systems are delivered to work integrated with automatic pH or chemical control panels.

Conclusion

Static and dynamic mixers are critical equipment for chemical reactions to occur at full efficiency in treatment plants. Static mixers provide fast and homogeneous mixing without energy consumption in pressurized lines, while dynamic mixers provide controlled, optimized mixing in tank and open channel systems. Mixers produced by our company are designed to be resistant to all kinds of chemical environments with HDPE, stainless steel and PVC material options. Thanks to energy efficiency, ease of maintenance and long-lasting mechanical structure, it offers hydrodynamically sized mixing solutions specifically sized according to the needs of the process. Whether a static mixer is used in a chemical dosing line or a dynamic mixer in a flocculation tank, both solutions form the basis of the efficiency, stability and chemical optimization of modern treatment systems.
