Perforated screens are high-efficiency solids removal equipment used as fine screens in wastewater treatment plants. When textile fibers, plastic pieces, food residues or small particles in wastewater cannot be retained by conventional bar screens, perforated screens come into play. Made from high-quality stainless steel, they provide both high filtration precision and long-term durability thanks to their perforated surface. They run continuously with an automatic cleaning mechanism, keeping clogging risk minimal and maintenance needs very low.
When wastewater enters the screen chamber, the flow is directed to the perforated surface. The perforated plate system has holes (perforations) with 2–10 mm diameters. As wastewater passes through these holes, particles larger than the hole diameter are retained on the surface. While the perforated screen rotates, mechanical scrapers or brushes clean the retained solids and transfer them to the discharge trough. The process is fully automatic and operates on time or differential level control. Perforated screens are positioned at the plant inlet before the process stream. Their compact design allows integration into existing channel systems or package-type pretreatment units.
Optimized between 2 – 10 mm depending on the application.

Perforated screens serve as the second line of protection after coarse screens in wastewater treatment plants. By removing small particles, fibrous materials and floatables, they increase the efficiency of biological and chemical treatment processes. With high durability, automatic cleaning and compact design, perforated screens offer a reliable, long-lasting and low operating-cost solution for modern treatment plants.
