Food and beverage industries have high and variable water consumption due to process, cleaning (CIP/COP), equipment washing, pasteurization, cooling, auxiliary facilities (steam, vacuum, cooling towers). Therefore, the resulting wastewater differs significantly from municipal wastewater in parameters such as high biological load, oil-grease, suspended solids and occasionally disinfectant residues.
